British choirs' prison-distributed CD and DVD
PLANS ARE under way for gospel music CDs and DVDs to be distributed
free of charge to prisoners in the UK's prisons. A concert to be held
at Manchester Cathedral featuring Liverpool Philharmonic Gospel Choir,
Accord Community Choir, One Voice Community Choir and Gorton Voice
Community Choir will take place on 15th July with the performance
being recorded and filmed for DVD. The man behind the project is
renowned choir director Tyndale Thomas of Sanctuary Ministries, who
recently contributed most of the arrangements to the big selling, TV
advertised album 'The Best Gospel Album In The World.Ever'. As well as
the live performances, the finished CDs and DVDs will also contain
messages from several leading American gospel figures including Israel
Houghton, Edwin Hawkins and Andrae Crouch.
On 16th November 2008 35 members of the Callington Community Gospel Choir went into Channings Wood prison. It was a very moving and deeply spiritual time for all involved. We were able to give away 100 free copies of our CD Eternal Light. The response was overwhelming. The words of Matthew 25 verse 36 still rings in my ears.......
