Metal Hammer magazine expounds its views on Christian metal music
THE LATEST issue of Metal Hammer magazine includes a short article
headed Christian Metal. It name checks a few bands including Norma
Jean, Extol, Living Sacrifice and Zao, comments that Black Sabbath's
"After Forever" is one of the first Christian metal tracks, and then
suggests that "very few Christian metal bands are nutjob
fundamentalists who regard The Bible as the infallible word of God -
though there are a few".
Despite how insulting it is to refer to the significant number of Christians out there who believe that the Bible is the Word of God and to be adhered to, I am pleased to say that the above mentioned Living Sacrifice is probably the most biblically grounded and one of the most skilled metal bands that have ever existed. Yet as the author obviously appreciates their talent, he is prepared to turn a blind eye to the unashamed faith-based statements.
