Gospel Music proves popular at the 42nd Grammy Awards in LA
THE 42nd Grammy Awards held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 23rd produced a number of surprises in the gospel music section. The winners were: Best rock gospel album: 'Pray', Rebecca St James; Best pop/contemporary gospel album: 'Speechless', Steven Curtis Chapman; Best Southern, country or bluegrass gospel album: 'Kennedy Center Homecoming', Bill & Gloria Gaither & Their Homecoming Friends; Best contemporary soul gospel album: 'Mountain High...Valley Low', Yolanda Adams; Best traditional gospel album: Shirley Caeser 'Christmas With Shirley Caeser'; and best gospel choir or chorus album: 'High & Lifted Up', Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.
