Cross Rhythms Festival cancelled to support The Call

IN A SURPRISE decision, Cross Rhythms have announced their intention not to hold their planned Cross Rhythms Festival, Giant Slayers, in July 2002. Said Chris Cole, Cross Rhythms director; "I was in a meeting with the steering committee for a planned event called The Call when I felt God speak to my heart that he wanted us to lay down the festival for this year to put all our support and energy behind The Call instead."

Begun in Washington DC in September 2000, The Call drew an estimated 400,000 youth and adults to a day of prayer, intercession and fasting for their nation. Lou Engle, Vice President of The Call says, "We have taught our children how to feast and play. We now need to teach them how to fast and pray."

Said Chris Cole, "I believe the time is approaching for a spiritual breakthrough with the younger generation. There can be no greater need in our time than the sense of cause that The Call imparts. This is why we must be willing to flow our river into a greater river; to get behind God's Kingdom strategy, rather than hold on to our own agenda." The Call England will take place on July 13th 2002 at Reading's Madejski football stadium.

Planning for the Cross Rhythms festival was already in motion with many speakers and artists confirmed, and advance bookings far exceeding those of previous years at this time. All advance bookings will be refunded in full and Cross Rhythms encourages all those who may have come to the event to seriously consider joining them at The Call as a strategic alternative.

The Cross Rhythms festival will return in July 2003. There is no change to plans for the Cross Rhythms Infusion Festival held in Ireland over the first weekend in September 2002
