Saddening news hits the Christian music scene as Gene Eugene dies
ALTERNATIVE Christian rock producer and artist Gene Eugene died in his sleep in early hours of March 20th at his The Green Room studio in Huntington Beach, California. The cause of his death is yet to be determined. Gene, whose original name was Eugene Andrusco, was best known for his work in the bands Adam Again, the Swirling Eddies and Lost Dogs. He helped pioneer the Christian alternative rock scene and has produced numerous artists. Originally hailing from Canada, his band Adam Again recorded their first album 'In A New World Of Time' in 1986. In 1987 Gene was one of the original founders of the label Brainstorm Artists International. More recently, he was involved with Essential Records' forthcoming modern worship project 'City On A Hill'. Producer Steve Hindalong (The Choir) brought Gene to Nashville in March to record a track of an early Adam Again song to be used on the album. The song, "I Remember You", features vocals from Third Day's Mac Powell. Gene's funeral was held on 25th March at Echoes Of Faith Church in Ontario.
