Singer/songwriter Garth Hewitt pens new book on Palestine/Israel, Towards The Dawn.
A NEW BOOK by singer, songwriter and social activist Garth Hewitt was launched at Church House, Westminster on 14th January. The book, Towards The Dawn, takes the reader on a journey through the Church's year from Easter to Trinity and also geographically from Jerusalem through Bethlehem to Nazareth in Galilee. It tells the story of the current political situation through the voices of the Christian Church and through peacemakers from the Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities. Garth Hewitt said about the book, "It encourages people to remember and pray for the Christian community and to support peacemakers whether Christian, Jewish or Muslim or from outside the faith communities. The Christian community are leaving because the situation is so desperate - very soon we may see the end of the indigenous Christian community in the Holy Land unless we listen to them now." He added that one of the clergy of Galilee asked the question of Christians in the West, "Are you still our brothers and sisters in Christ?, and commented that "it is time for us to answer that by going and visiting and listening to them."
