Singer Garth Hewitt receives disc from Sir Cliff
VETERAN British singer/songwriter Garth Hewitt received a commemorative disc
from Sir Cliff Richard on behalf of Word Music, acknowledging sales of
100,000 copies of his albums. The singer has clocked up 25 years of
mobile musical ministry. Word have released a boxed set of his
'Journeys' albums which draw on Garth's experiences in the Holy Land,
Africa, Asia and Latin America. Sir Cliff commented, "Garth's voice
has been raised faithfully and consistently on behalf of the world's
poor and underprivileged for nearly as long as I've been singing! His
commitment expressed through issues of Christian justice and
responsibility has been a wonderful example and his cutting edge
lyrics are more effective than many a sermon or leaflet."
Garth
is leader of Christian Aids London and South East team, based at All
Hallows On The Wall Church in the city of London, where he is also
Guild vicar. In a surprise move, Garth has moved record labels from
Word to ICC. His first ICC release 'Gospel Singer' will be released in
November.
