THE ANNUAL GEM Awards, which seeks to bring media attention on the British gospel scene, held their third awards ceremony at Bethel Convention Centre, Birmingham on Saturday 29th October. The event was co-hosted by David and Carrie Grant and special guests on the night included Basil Meade, Beverley Knight, Raymond & Co, Jocelyn Brown and Ruby Turner. The award winners were: Best Female Newcomer, Sandra Godley; Best Male Newcomer, Brian Martin; Best Group Newcomer, GK Real; Best Female, Niki Carless; Best Male, Freddie Kofi; Best Group, The 29th Chapter; Best Choir, London Adventist Chorale; Best Single, Blessed Voices - "Relations"; Best Album, Kingdom Choir - 'Praise Belongs To Our God'; Best DJ/Radio Presenter, Jumoke Fushola - BBC Local Radio.
