MercyMe, Switchfoot, Stacie Orrico, Jeremy Camp all win Dove Awards.

Several newer acts were the winners at the Gospel Music Association's 35th Annual Awards show held at Nashville's Municipal Auditorium on 28th April. MercyMe, Switchfoot, Stacie Orrico and Jeremy Camp were among the evening's top winners. MercyMe captured the Dove Award for Artist Of The Year, the group also winning Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song Of The Year for "Word Of God Speak" penned by MercyMe's lead vocalist Bart Millard and producer Peter Kipley. "Word Of God Speak" also won the Song Of The Year award. Said Millard, "The greatest thing about winning a Dove Award is that it's essentially coming from your peers and people in the industry. They are people that do this all the time and hear and see so much, (which) makes this an especially big honour."
