Sir Cliff Richard awarded more than £200,000 in damages
77-YEAR-OLD pop icon Sir Cliff Richard has been awarded over £210,000 in damages, after winning his High Court privacy battle against the BBC over its coverage of a police search at his home. It was carried out following a child sexual assault allegation, but Sir Cliff was never charged. Speaking to Premier last year he explained how his Christian faith had pulled him through this difficult time, "What supported me best was when everybody said 'goodnight' and then I was on my own, and when you're on your own you know you're not. When you're a Christian you know that you could speak to God whatever you want to, and I did."
