Key behind-the-scenes figure Phil Pechonis dies in Florida
AN IMPORTANT figure in the development of the UK Christian music scene, Phil Pechonis, died on 14th July. Phil was the co-founder and festival director of Creation Fest, an event which began in the south west of England in 2002 and is today Britain's biggest free Christian music and teaching festival. For more than a decade American-born Phil and his family pastored churches in Woolacombe, Perranporth and Exeter. Last November he was diagnosed with bladder cancer and recently on a family trip to southern Florida was admitted to hospital, where he died.
