LOCAL church interest in "The Millennium Prayer" single by Sir Cliff Richard has been

unprecedented since its release on 15 November. Publicity for the song, set to the music of "Auld Lang Syne", by Paul Field and originally featured in the 'Hope 6 Dreams' musical has been widespread since it was announced that EMI, Sir Cliffs record label for the past 40 years, would not be releasing the charity single.

David Bryce, on the management team of the Cliff Richard Organisation, said, "Sir Cliff has not parted with EMI, as has been reported in some of the national newspapers. He is still very much with them but his charity records have never been released through EMI and The Millennium Prayer' will instead go out through Papillon Records, which is part of the Chrysalis Group."

The single was featured on the ITV program An Audience With.
