Legendary group the Caravans honoured at awards ceremony and record new album.
THE LEGENDARY Caravans were inducted into the 14th Annual American Gospel Quartet Convention's Hall Of Fame on 21st January. During the '50s, the Caravans were a hugely influential act with such hits as "Mary, Don't You Weep", "Walk Around Heaven All Day" and "Sweeping Through The City". Four of the original members of the group - Albertina Walker, Dorothy Norwood, Inez Andrews and Delores Washington - were in Birmingham, Alabama for the awards ceremony. The Caravans have recently reunited for an upcoming concert tour of the US and have also recorded their first album together in 40 years.
