Long established CCM magazine makes editorial changes

NASHVILLE's Contemporary Christian Music magazine has changed the definition of its shortened name CCM to Christ, Community, Music. Said editor Jay Swartzendruber to Christian Retailing magazine, "The Christian music fan of today is much different than that of the '80s or '90s. . . They don't feel a loyalty to an industry brand of music; they have a loyalty to Christians that are artists. They don't care whether the album is sold or not by a Christian record label. What they care about is the artist's faith and how is that reflected and how good is the music."

Swartzendruber mentioned mainstream acts like Eisley and The Fray as two who do not have Christian music distribution but are nevertheless delivering Christian messages in their music. "Over the past four years since I've been at CCM, we've been getting two requests over and over - readers want more modern worship and more general market artists that are Christians."
