Major changes for South Africa's MIC
POPULAR South African band MIC have announced major changes in line up, musical direction and ministry focus. A new version of MIC has been formed by founding members Stephen Rothquel and Gunther Schroeder with three new band members, Verdine Eaton (17), Samora Mbambo (19) and Marlon Van Whye (21). The revamped group intend to focus primarily on ministry to South Africa's poor and underprivileged townships and will play many concerts for free. Also to change is MIC's musical style, moving away from their current dance style to a more pop, boy band sound.
In a news release MIC spoke about the changes, "After our UK tour we spent some time looking to what the Lord has in store for our ministry for the next few years. During this process, members George Mhondera and Quintin Delport felt that God was showing them that their season with the ministry of MIC was drawing to a close. After an extensive auditioning process, unearthing some stunning fresh talent, we have appointed three new members."
MIC will continue with their world wide ministry, with tours of Australia and the UK. The band is currently working on their next recording project, which will now be the long requested 'MIC -Worship' album, featuring mostly original songs of worship by MIC, as well as some current worship favourites by other writers. The new album, MIC's seventh, is due for imminent release.
