HUSBAND AND wife duo Carrie And David Grant have won the 1998 MOBO Award for Best Gospel Act for their album 'Watching And Waiting'. The announcement was made on 14th October at the Royal Albert Hall where the 1998 Malibu MOBO Awards were presented. Carrie Grant told Cross Rhythms, "It's fantastic and we were absolutely stunned because I don't think we realised people appreciated us that much. It's the only category where there is no competition, how can you compete to praise God? We really received the award on behalf of everybody in that category."
There was some disappointment amongst the Christian music community that the Gospel Award was one of six categories not shown on the television broadcast of the event. Carrie commented, "That really lets down the people who had phoned in and voted and had no idea who'd won. They'd paid their money to vote and they should be told. But in the end, what mattered is that we got the award. However, I was encouraged that The Evening Standard quoted what we'd said about Jesus at the ceremony." After the success of their 'Watching And Waiting' album, the husband and wife duo are preparing to record a follow up for ICC.
