Amy Grant set to release live CD and DVD recorded in Texas
CCM AND POP star Amy Grant is releasing her first live recording in 25 years with 'Time Again: Amy Grant Live' on 26th September. In anticipation of this release and celebration of her illustrious career, Grant will be honoured with a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on 19th September. She is the first artist with roots in contemporary Christian music to receive such (Urban/Gospel great Al Green has previously received a star). The follow-up to her Grammy winning album 'Rock Of Ages: Hymns Of Faith', 'Time Again: Amy Grant Live' was recorded and filmed at Bass Hall in Ft Worth, Texas - the city of her very first paid performance. In the concert Grant invites audiences into her "living room," even bringing a couch and painting from her own home as part of the intimate stage setting for the DVD.
Said Amy, "I feel this project is marked by a longstanding
relationship between a singer/songwriter and her audience, and I think
you feel that. That's the unique quality of any artist/audience
relationship that develops over a period of decades, because it's not
even about a particular song, it's about the familiarity with
something that's been a part of your life for a long time. That's why
the whole emphasis of everything from the stage set up, the way we did
the songs, the banter in-between, was 'let's highlight the
familiarity, relationship and friendship - the shared experience." The
projects offer Christian and mainstream hits from the past 25 years.
The CD additionally features a new studio recording of "In A Little
While" and bonus material on the DVD includes behind the
scenes/making-of footage, song-by-song descriptions, breakfast with
Amy's fan club, "fan cam" footage, "hanging with the band" and more.
Great concert hi-lighting some of the best loved songs from Amy's long running music career (30 years!). "Lead Me On" was the great start off, of so many popular songs throughout Amy's ccm/pop genre. Top fine, live performances of "Every Heartbeat", "Lucky One", "Out in the Open", "Takes a Little Time"; stupendous "Stay For Awhile". It was great to hear some of her old songs, "In A Little While": it takes me back to her Age to Age concert, when she sang the original album version. What a spectacular performance of "Saved By Love" featuring Vince Gill; I just loved hearing this song.
The bgvs for the songs were top notch; giving every song a timeless, splendid performance for the listening audience. I was so taken by the very talented Kim Keyes; she just gave it her best: Amy is so blessed to have Kim in her band. So sad to hear of the loss of her bandmate and co-songwriter and guitarist Will Owsley. I can still see in the pages of my mind, the video of his part in the foursome for Amy's vh-1 studio broadcast of, "Christmas Can't Be Very Far Away. I highly applaud "Eye to Eye"; what an awesome perfomance!: I loved it immensely! I also loved hearing "Ask Me"; hard to believe this song goes back 20 years this year! I was captivated by Amy's 1988 closer, "If These Walls Could Speak"; I loved the introduction before the song: Thank you Amy. The keyboards were superb! wtg Jonathan!
We are so blessed by Amy's gift of music to us!
GOD Bless! -Don
