Nearly 1000 young people made first time commitments at Soul Survivor

Nearly 1000 young people made first time commitments to Jesus at the 1999 Soul Survivor festivals in Somerset where 17,000 young people, from all over the United Kingdom and the world, joined together for weeks focused on worship, teaching and ministry and much more.

Mike Pilavachi, leader of Soul Survivor, said, "1999 has been an exciting year, especially seeing so many young people come to know Jesus. This is very encouraging to us as a team as we approach Soul Survivor The Message 2000 in Manchester. The festivals appeared to have a depth to them unlike previous years. There was a real passion in the young people to get serious about their relationship with God, and an urgency to reach out to a lost, broken and hurting world. Our unofficial theme was led To The Lost1 and this appeared to be so evident in what God was doing."

Worship has always been central to the values of Soul Survivor. Matt Redman, Tim Hughes and Martyn Layzell led the worship during the three weeks, taking people deeper with God. Matt Redman said, "Each week had a different flavour, but were all characterised by passion, exuberance and a whole-hearted devotion to God. On a few nights we had over 30 musicians on stage; the Psalm Drummers collective, a six-piece string section and the band. This fresh approach broadened our worship."

Live broadcasts from each of the three events and interviews with numerous Soul Survivor contributors, were broadcast by Cross Rhythms across Europe.
