Psalm 46:10
In many areas of life, God works in an economy that is different from ours - the last come first, the poor are rich, what you get is proportionate to what you release, taking the lowest position will give the greatest authority and so on.
In the quick fix, instant communication, Seven Habits of Highly Effective Nuns, 50 Steps to Becoming a Super Human Disciple, 1001 Ways to Become an Angel, type of world and Christianity we have, we seem to have lost the plain simple truth that nearly everything in life worth having has a cost (and it's normally not financial); and when it comes to God's involvement, he often takes his time. God won't be rushed. He's never too early or too late.
Get this - the Bible says Jesus did so many things that all the books in the world couldn't contain them - and he walked everywhere or on very special occasions used a donkey (without turbo). Jesus was not in a hurry - and yet he got so much done, he knew the secret to efficiency. Jesus had purpose, passion, drive and a relentless pursuit of God's plan - and yet you never read that 'Behold Jesus legged it to do the next miracle' or 'Lo, Jesus preached really quickly because he had another appointment in the neighbouring town'. Yet we frantically run around as though the flames of hell are licking our backsides and we end up producing a success list that includes an ulcer, neglected family and resentful friends.
I am utterly convinced that God is not as interested in where you go in life, as he is in how you get there. It's about style, not speed. It's not what you get done, but how you get it done that counts.
Now meditate on the scripture - 'Be still and know that I am God'
Go on - Be Still
