Glyn Barrett considers how big and amazing God is

Continued from page 1

God is constantly planning and strategising how to bring you back.

If you want a flavour of his extraordinary method why not take a look the genealogy of Jesus in Chapter 1 of Matthew. Not always the favourite for an inspirational Morning Devotional I realise, but just take a look at how many women are mentioned. More often than not the references are to fathers and sons, but each of the five women mentioned are all extraordinary cases. If there was a conventional Church PR Machine it's doubtful that these five would be the ones chosen to be in the bloodline of Jesus. My God, however, is unconventional.

These women don't fit in the box. They don't conform to convention or expectations and have stories that we, as people, may find unpalatable. None of this fazes God. All of the four women mentioned are extraordinary women with interesting backgrounds, Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba and Mary alike. Interesting that of all the women it could mention these would be the ones chosen.

God will do everything it takes to find someone who is not walking with Him, who doesn't quite fit our 'churchy' box, or is radically opposed to Christian life (think of Saul of Tarsus!). No matter who or where you are God is on an unrelenting rescue mission to bring you back home to Him.

God has an EXTRAORDINARY MESSAGE.

Romans 1:16-17 (Message). It's news I'm most proud to proclaim, this EXTRAORDINARY message of God's powerful plan to rescue everyone who trusts Him, starting with Jews and then right on to everyone else!

What an EXTRAORDINARY GODCR
