Paul Calvert attended the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus dinner at the Waldorf Astoria in Jerusalem to honour Christians. He spoke with the director Josh Reinstein, and two winners of awards.

Paul: Who are you honouring tonight Josh?

Josh: There are 2 awards. There is the Lifetime Achievement Award that we are giving to Pastor Larry Huch and we are giving the Lifetime In Tourism Award to Jobst Bittner.

Paul: Why did you choose these people?

Josh: So Larry Huch has been a supporter of Israel for many, many years now, he is one of the greatest leaders of America when it comes to helping Israel. Not just through projects but political support. Jobst Bittner is winning the tourism award because he has brought 1000's and 1000's of people from around the world to march in solidarity with Jerusalem.

Paul: Is the Jewish Christian relationship developing positively?

Josh: It is unbelievable, what we are seeing in faith based diplomacy today, the co-operation of Jews and Christians around the world is unprecedented. Without Christian support the embassy would not be in Jerusalem from Washington DC. The Guatemalan would not be in Jerusalem, we wouldn't have the Golan heights recognised and a lot of the big things that we are seeing around the world is because of Christian support and it is just amazing how much it has affected the situation.

Paul: Why do you have a night to honour Christians?

Josh: I think you know, Christians do a lot for Israel and one night a year we say we want to say, 'Thank you, thank you for what you are doing for Israel.' This is our 14th year, we have been doing this year after year to select the people who are just doing incredible things for Israel around the world and giving them the recognition that they deserve. It has become the highest honour a Christian leader can get from Israel.

Paul: On another subject the deal of the century was just launched, is this good for Israel?

Josh: You know what it is really how you look at it, I think that we don't have a partner for peace so in the meantime we can start annexing and putting sovereignty over the places we hold dear, Bethel, Shiloh, Hebron, I think that is a really positive step. On the other hand to create a terrorist state in the land of Israel, a Palestinian state would be something very dangerous I believe, so it really depends how it plays out.

Paul: The Palestinian's have already rejected this, can we really see peace?

Josh: I don't think we have a partner for peace, I think by changing the paradigm, having a paradigm shift like this, having a president like Donald Trump who we all trust and love and Prime Minister Netanyahu behind it, I think it gives us a chance of renewing a situation where we can develop peace, maybe in the future. Maybe it won't be peace for the Palestinian's but a regional peace that will lead to peace for Palestinians, we have to see how it plays out.

Paul: What can Christians pray for here in the land of Israel?

Josh: Well I think the first thing they should pray for is what God asks them to and that is pray for the peace of Jerusalem. I take great solace in the fact that there will be peace in Jerusalem and I am sure and I am sure our Christian listeners do as well but it is very important to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, pray for the peace of Israel, and pray for our leadership to stand strong.
