Shell encourages us to allow God into our lives
My Mum and Dad love caravanning! Every summer when I was younger my Mum, my Dad, my brother and me would stick the caravan on the back of the car and go to Coniston in the Lake District on holiday. Tim and I go there as well now because it's one of the most beautiful places I know and it's only 2 hours away from our house!!
The caravan site that we used to stay on was right on the edge of a massive lake and one year my Dad decided to buy a little boat so that we could all go sailing. It was a blue boat with a red sail. Even the dog would jump in with my Dad and go for a sail!
However, I wasn't that bothered about sailing because I was a bit frightened of the water, so I would just sit and sun bathe by the side of the lake. Then my Dad came up with a great idea. Whenever me and my Dad went sailing together, he would do the hard work and actually sail it and I would lie down on my back at the front of the boat and sun bathe. That way, dad got to sail and I got to sun bathe! Sorted! I would just like to add that I tried to sail the boat on my own once and it all went horribly wrong. I ended up getting myself into a bit of a mess and my Dad had to borrow someone's motor-boat to come and rescue me! Hee hee.
The point of the story is this...sometimes we try to live our lives without God's help and most of the time we end up getting ourselves into a bit of a mess. God has to come and rescue us and we end up wondering why we ever tried to do it by ourselves in the first place! When we let God do the "steering" (in other words when we let God direct and control our lives) things tend to work out a lot better because He knows what He's doing. I'm not saying that when God is in control we get to sit back and sun bathe but it's definitely a lot less stressful.
Who's directing your life? Is it God or are you trying to do everything on your own? How do you think you can let God direct your life even more than He is doing already? Why don't you try and involve God in your life even more. If you have any decisions to make, ask Him to help you.

this is a great arcticle and really made me think about how much trust i actually put in God. at school i find it really hard to be a Christian but whenever i'm going thorough a rough patch from now on i will think about what you have said in this arcticle. i am really going to try and let God take more control of my life. xx
