The rising of generation xtreme - part 9 in the serialising of Carl Anderson's Changing Of The Guard
Elijah was a prophet, mightily anointed of God. And his young trainee, Elisha was desirous in a good way of receiving Elijah's anointing. He was determined. He followed him onward, boldly pressing in, even when Elijah encouraged him to stop. He went on, past Gilgal, past Bethel, crossing the Jordan, until he reached the place of Elijah's departure. "I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit rest upon me." 2 Kings 2:9.
Soon Elijah is translated into heaven by chariots of fire and Elisha catches the mantle of Elijah. He goes forth and does exactly double the number of miracles of his predecessor. Elisha was so anointed that even after he had died a dead child touched his bones and came to life. There had been a passing of the baton.
This is what is coming to the earth. God is fixing to pour out His Spirit in such a way that those who thirst after Him and hunger for His anointing will capture the mantle and go forth in signs and wonders under an unlimited anointing. In the Old Covenant, you could believe for the double portion anointing, but in the New Covenant, we have the promise of the fullness of the very Spirit of Christ who said, "greater works than these shall you do" and who ministered in the Spirit in an unlimited anointing, which He then passed on to His church on earth. Are you hungry? Are you looking to catch the mantle as it falls from heaven? Are you ready to fast and pray with your whole heart for an unlimited anointing to fulfill His calling in your life?
Many thousands of you will. You teens will begin to stand up in your school yards and around your flagpoles under an evangelistic anointing and pray the truth. You twenty-and-thirty-somethings will dare to walk down the most drug-infested corners of your cities, into the darkest corners and vilest holes of human existence, and pour the anointing of love and compassion that will save many. You mentors will dare to begin to open your eyes and give your time and blood, sweat, and tears to train and release those around you to go farther than you.
You will be bold and pray for gangs and pimps, poor people on the
streets, or rich and wealthy people in their posh condos and homes.
You will stand on beaches, on street corners, in alleys, and in all
sorts of locations, and proclaim the Word of God through words and
love in action. You will arise in the middle of an airplane ride, or
on a bus, or a subway, and preach the truth as it is in Jesus, and
many will be saved. You will love people
and pray for their felt
needs and open doors of truth for them to know God. You will dare to
believe God to show forth the signs of the Kingdom; you will speak
with new tounges, lay hands boldly on sick bodies and see them
recover, speak to dead bodies and witness their resurrection from the
dead. The list will go on.
This is your hour! The time to favour you, the set time, has come. "Cry loudly, do not hold back, raise your voice like a trumpet, and declare to My people their transgression, and to the house of Jacob their sins." Isaiah 58:1-2.
Smith Wigglesworth, a great man of God used mightily in the early twentieth century, used to say, "When the Holy Ghost does not move me, I move the Holy Ghost." In other words, stand up and get going. Initiate a work, and God will stand with you. Abraham Lincoln once said, "Do not wait for your ship to come in. Swim out to it." Francis Bacon once remarked, "A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds." See, when David, who was a little fifteen year old shepherd boy, heard of the champion Goliath, he sensed the urgency in the Spirit realm. The scripture does not say so explicitly, but it is implicitly there. He hurried to make preparations. He removed every hindrance that would keep him down (Saul's armor) and caught the urgency of the moment. He RAN TO THE BATTLE LINE to engage the enemy, and you are called to do the same thing. Go forth as a young person; do not look at your age. God convinced Jeremiah of that. "Then I said, 'Alas, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, because I am a youth.' But the Lord said to me, "Do not say, I am a youth. Because everywhere I send you, you shall go." Jeremiah 1:7a. God is going to use YOU, no matter what your age or training. Have the response of Mary, a young teenage woman whom millions of people have adored for centuries because of her humble and yet bold reply to the call of God to carry the Saviour, "Behold, the female slave of the Lord; be it done to me according to your word." Luke 1:38.
You must take responsibility to go forth in the Lord's name; no one is going to take the initiative for you.
Move It Out!
Charles G. Finney was a young man used mightily by God in what historians call the Second Great Awakening. At a crucial point of the mid-1800's, there came an advancement known as the Industrial Revolution.
The multitudes of people who had been raised on rural farming communities were beginning to move to the larger cities. Cities became areas of great advancement. With the inventions of special machinery and technological advances such as electric light, photographic material, and manufacturing, many people began the transition.
Against this backdrop was the preaching of the gospel. Finney traveled from town to town proclaiming the truth of the gospel with power and conviction. Five hundred-thousand conversions were attributed to this single man of God.
It was he who said, "Would you have an awakening in your community, your church, your own lives? Then become the fuel, and a revival fire will be the result." In 1821, when he first began his ministry at about the age of thirty, he wrote of a particular moment in preaching to a packed church.
"The Spirit of God came upon me with such power that it was like opening a gun battery upon them. For more than an hour, the word of God came through me to them in a manner that I could see was carrying all before it. It was a fire and a hammer breaking the rock, and as a sword that was piercing to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit. I saw that a general conviction of sin was spreading over the whole congregation. Many of them could not hold up their heads. I tell you, in the realm of the Spirit, your time has come! Go for it!
