Ezekiel 37:1-10

Faced with a vision of Israel, Ezekiel saw a valley of dry, brittle bones. He was given two instructions; prophecy to the bones and prophecy to the breath.

Firstly he was called to create form. The bones, sinews, muscle and skin needed to be aligned, things needed to come together to make sense. However, if Ezekiel had stopped there, all he would have was an army of skeletons; static, lifeless and useless. Once form was established the bodies needed life, the breath and wind of God (in Hebrew and Greek, wind, air and breathe are translated as the Spirit).

All the form in the world is useless without the breath and Spirit of God. You can look right, have everything in place and on the outside have things together, but the truth is, without God's breath things are lifeless, empty...dead.

On the other hand, there are so many times we 'call' on the Lord for his Spirit and blessing but we have given no thought of how that will work out. If God pours out blessing, do you have a life ready to receive it? Are there things in place to receive all He has for you?

It doesn't matter how hard the wind of God blows - if it doesn't hit anything it will have no impact. In order to get a yacht to move, two fundamental things are needed; wind and a sail. Wind on it's own does nothing, and a sail without wind is useless.

The only people impacted by the breath of God are those who are in a position to capture it. Is your sail up? Is your 'body formed' to accept the breath of God? Have you brought things together to be part of His army?

Some spend so much time calling on God to bless them, they neglect the fact that God works in partnership. On the other hand, it's easy to consume ourselves with doing everything right and building something, that we forget that without God's touch and breath it is nothing but an empty vain action.

So can I encourage you today to prophecy to the bones, to focus on building something in your life that can receive all that God has for you, and will do in you, AND having done that, call on the breath of God to breathe life.
