Paul Calvert and Daniel Seaman look back at the Israeli Prime Minister's life
Continued from page 3
I believe that and I am sure he believed it also. He did things out of his belief as an Israeli and as a Jew that these things (he did were with his) God-given gifts and he dedicated them to the people of Israel. I am sure there are many individuals who fought alongside him who feel they have a personal debt to him but I think as a nation he was always a soldier who performed his duty. He was another person in the chain of great leaders who gave to this country and he just made sure that the chain will continue .
Paul: Do you think there will be another leader like him?
Daniel: As they say, 'cemeteries are full of people who had no replacement', and as they also say 'old soldiers don't die, they just fade away'.
Sharon faded away. It took him 8 years. All I can say from my bias is that in the history of the Jewish people he has taken his place in the pantheon of the Jewish people. He will always be remembered, for some people for the better, for other people for the worse. But nobody can (ignore) Ariel Sharon.
As we have proven in the past, the Jewish people as a people are greater than any one individual. There will always be another leader who will pick up the baton and continue the run. For the Jewish people it is a race through history. As we have proven, it is not confined to one era. Jewish people are eternal and there will always be additional leaders.
