A mixture of studio and live tracks homing in on the South African rock team's worship ministry. |

Reviewed by Tony Cummings Tree63 have always been a band able to do the performance orientated rock 'n' roll thing (try and locate the brilliant and scandalously neglected 'The Life And Times Of Absolute Truth') but can also deliver anthemic rock praise every bit as stirring as the best of Delirious? and Redman. This album, which could have been a bit of a pig's ear being as it is a mixture of studio recordings and live performances hurriedly recorded at their last US tour, is a triumph largely due to the quality of John Ellis' songs. "Treasure" and "Joy" are stone classics and the live versions here are full of worshipful vibrancy. Also excellent is their take of Matt Redman's "Nothing But The Blood" with their old friend adding his unmistakeable tones to the track. Possibly though my favourite of all is their heart-stopping version of the old John Newton warhorse "Amazing Grace" which they skilfully segue into their own "Look What You've Done". All in all, a highly impressive album from the South African musicianaries. More from Tree63See all...
