Alathea are three young women (Carrie, Mandee and Christi) from East Tennessee with a definite "newgrass" sound. The album is in some ways hard to describe in style, (the Nashville suits call it "poplachian"!), The songs are acoustic in nature, with a warm, very pleasant, free flowing feel about them. Very suitable for thoughtful, reflective moments. The first trac, “Indian Creek”, sets the mood, with intimate verse and a good blend of harmony and acoustic instruments, which I feel is slightly reminiscent of Alison Krauss. There are 11 tracks altogether, 10 of which are written or co-written by Mandee Radford, and one which is a reworking of the well known hymn by George Matheson “O Love That Will Not Let Me Go”. An intriguing release for Fierce! to try and market to us Brits!
