I just finished reading Veil of Pearls by MaryLu Tyndall. I was swept away from the very first page! MaryLu has a way of bringing her characters to life. As I read this book, I found myself being transported to the year 1811. The details are so vivid, that you can actually picture the people, places and events. This is a very inspiring story about a young slave girl, who finds her freedom, yet she is not completely free. She finds herself in a world she’s never experienced before, one she only dreamed of having. The relationships are wonderfully written with two main characters that will steal your heart away, Adalia and Morgan. In each of MaryLu’s novels, you find yourself not only enthralled with the story, but you also learn some history along the way. In school, I hated history, did my best to avoid it. But, now I am enchanted with this era, thanks to MaryLu’s influence. If you enjoy Christian Historical Romance, you need to check out all of MaryLu’s novels. You will not be disappointed. Like me, you will find yourself wondering why her novels have not been turned into movies yet.

What a wonderful new masterpiece by the brilliant MaryLu Tyndall! Though I have been reading her works since the beginning, this one truly captured my heart and would not let go until the last page was turned. The historical research put into this book is truly astounding, and the writing so fluid that it’s easy to get lost in the world Tyndall has created. As reality mixes with fantasy, one cannot help but fall in love with Adalia, or after all, what girl does not want to be a princess? But is Morgan truly her prince come to save her? A well written narrative, with a love story that will warm your heart, this fairytale is a must read.

Adalia Winston, a runaway slave who can hide her heritage, sails to Charleston and becomes a doctor’s assistant. Morgan Rutledge is a slave to money and society, but his real love and purpose is sailing. Adalia hides who she is, but the more Morgan pursues her, the more she cannot resist him and what society offers; the more her jealous “friends” try to destroy her by ruining her character and exploring her past. Will Adalia be forced to become a slave again? Will Morgan love her once he finds out who she really is?
The tale of Adalia and Morgan is charming. I devoured this book. I couldn’t put it down. I cried, laughed, I cheered. It was so real. The last chapter had me at the edge of my seat, I was so shocked! A must read. I finished the book and thought, “Best book ever!”
