Reviewed by Ian Hayter This live DVD - the second taken from their 2006 concert at the Stravinski Auditorium in Montreux - showcases the great solo and ensemble talent of Tore Aas' Oslo Choir. The influence of Andrae Crouch is evident, both in the inclusion of three of his songs ("Sweet Jesus", "We Are Not Ashamed" and "Reaching Heaven With Our Song", a collaboration with Calvin Bridges) and in the overall style of the performance of this 12 song set. Charismatic soloist Hans Esben Gihle leads the choir through a storming version of "Oh Happy Day" and there is a very pleasant trio sung by Hildegunn and Ingelin Reigstad and Hilde Christiansen ("Your Love"). The energy and zeal of the choir members shows in every song while the large and enthusiastic audience provide plenty of atmosphere. There are no flashy techniques employed by the camera operators and editors, so you can concentrate on the music. Well worth getting hold of. More from Oslo Gospel ChoirSee all...
