With this, their fourth studio album, the alternative rockers from Columbus, Ohio have produced a classy slab of polished rock. In what could almost be described as an intricately developed concept album, a theme of the Second World War is carried through the tracks, paralleling Jacob wrestling with God. At times the soundscapes created by House Of Heroes are reminiscent of classic Muse with driving orchestral guitars, but with Beatlesque choruses and harmonies. There is no doubting the band's writing skills. The poetry in their lyrics is at times provocatively beautiful. Standout tracks include "Raven" with its punchy gang chorus and the moving "By Your Side" which tells the tale of brothers going to war. This album is one that deserves a second listen as the tracks need time to work on you. House Of Heroes suffer from the fact that they emerge from a glut of similar American rock bands. They do however have the knack of writing infectious melodies which get under your skin and lyrics that keep you thinking long after the conclusion of the album. It is well worth giving this album the chance to delight and surprise you.

This has become my favourite album of all time. House of heroes and say no more have been in my CD collection all the time, but they hadn't emerged as an artist with real potential until I heard this. Expanding out to a 4 piece has made them become, simply, epic. All four of them sing, and the guitar tone is best described as 'chunky'. AJ babcock's faultless basslines compliment all the guitar riffs, and the song structures are original, catchy, but still classed as hard rock! it's like what would happen if the recording pop artists put their amps on 11, used their talent, and spent more than half an hour on their recordings

Simply amazing!
