In something of an excursion from the heavy stylings of Thousand Foot Krutch, Joel Bruyere initially set about The Drawing Room project to be an outlet for all his other creative thoughts. Some time later, and with some input from "various talents, along with some close friends", 'The Drawing Room' album materialised. What has come out of this is something truly impressive. The counterpoint between thickly textured instrumentation and wistful vocals is haunting, and the complexity of the syncopated rhythms produces a mesmerising atmosphere. The production quality is flawless as one might expect from such a seasoned professional. Every listen to the album reveals yet another musical subtlety lurking under the surface, another rhythm that relaxes the mind. It's particularly hard to pull out a highlight song, but when the album opens with the brilliant "Keys (The Liaison)" you can tell you're onto a good thing.

Side project from Joel Bruyere of Thousand Foot Krutch.

The Drawing Room is a patchwork from years of sound bytes and ages of tuneful marinating. If you listen closely enough, you can hear the Juniper tree from outside said window swaying in the breeze on nearly every strain. Truthfully intended for headphone perusing, the likes of a heavily wooded trail, glass of blueberry juice in hand and a pace set slightly under breakneck, would suffice.

It has to be said that if not for the prop-up and sustain of a select few this story would have quite possibly slipped through the cracks or quite conceivably found itís way to a dust teeming corner behind an eerie looking refrigerator. Theyíll be awaiting your firm handshake.

Solely comprised of one member in itís infancy, The Drawing Room was crafted by Joel Bruyere from Thousand Foot Krutch as a creative outlet for happenings. Be it conjuring magic tricks, shooting photography, creating a recipe and letís not forget patterning together shades of music. Some photography and a couple card tricks have leaked their way out but the music remained a secret until now.
