Reviewed by Tony Cummings Although there are tried and tested carols on this set like "Silent Night" and "Angels We Have Heard On High", it is the original Christmas compositions scattered through this set which best show off Leigh Nash's extraordinarily haunting voice. The duo's legion of fans were of course devastated when Sixpence broke up in 2006 so this, the group's first full length return to the studio, will no doubt attract long term fans as well as casual Christmas browsers looking for music which doesn't tumble into sleigh bell excess. In fact, the production here by Steve Hindalong (City On A Hill) is masterly. Put it all together - great voice, good songs, classy production - and you have a strong album celebrating that mind boggling birth in Bethlehem. More from Sixpence None The RicherSee all...
