Reviewed by Mike Rimmer
It's always good when people from record companies take up albums and rave about things because it gives you a keen sense of anticipation when you slot them into your CD player. In the case of Jeremy Camp (no relation to Steve Camp apparantly) the album turns out to be good but somehow doesn't quite catch fire. With the kind of voice that's in vogue at the moment (you know - cross between Mac Powell and Nickleback) and a collection of well produced songs - lots of energy, plenty of gloss and oodles of hooks thrown in, this should be an absolute winner. But in fact the result is a "heard it all before" experience and there's nothing on 'Stay' that really distinguishes Jeremy from half a dozen other artists at the moment. Clearly talented but not able to stand out from the crowd makes this close but no cigar. Mike Rimmer produces and presents a programme five-days-a-week on Cross Rhythms radio and runs a media company in Birmingham.
