This old time quartet have been around in one form or other since 1967, while Milbert 'Doc' McKenzie was still at school. The present line up of the four-man group, however, dates from 2001. This album was recorded live at Louisburg College, North Carolina and is a showcase of the abilities, not only of Doc and the Hi-Lites, but also of the McKenzie family. Shontae McKenzie and the Chicago Mass Choir join the Hi-Lites on "Worship And Praise The Lord With Me", while son Bryan raps on the Bonus Track version of "Tell Jesus", and is also responsible for the overall sound of the group. As you would expect there are some excellent vocal performances, although being a live album some of the tracks are a little over extended. The set manages to convey some basic truths, with for example "I've Won", "House Of Refuge" and the soulful rendition of "What A Friend (We Have in Jesus)", while combining some useful social comment, as in the 'old time' "Love One Another" and the self explanatory "Be Kind To Old People". There's also a gospelisation of the old O'Jays' hit, "Love Train".
