After six Grammys and over 30 million sales, Amy Grant is back with a new album, mixing four new songs with a batch of previously unreleased cuts from the archives. It's unmistakably Ms Grant, with country-tinged ballads intermixed with catchy pop melodies, all underscored by a sense of love and wonder at God's grace during a time which she admits has been tough. The opening song, Sarah Hart and Chapin Hartford's "Better Than A Hallelujah", is a poignant reminder that God listens to every cry of our hearts and a song that Amy says helped her through the death of a close friend (fellow musician Ruth McGinnis). "Overnight" is a duet with her daughter Sarah Chapman, from whose father, Gary, Amy was splitting up when she wrote the raw "Come Into My World" (one of the previously unreleased songs from the vaults). "What Is The Chance Of That" has a slight feel of Shania Twain about it and "Unafraid", a favourite at her live shows, is recorded here for the first time. With seven other tracks there's nothing too unexpected here, but the performance and production are immaculate, with excellent arrangements for the backing musicians and plenty of emotion in the vocals. If you are familiar with Ms Grant's oeuvre you will know what to expect and you won't be disappointed. If you've never listened before, then this is a wonderful album to start with. As always, true class shines through and the message of God's love is clearly heard.

Eagerly awaited new album from the US CCM superstar.

Amy Grant returns with a plethora of new music for 2010. Somewhere Down The Road is a unique album full of brand new songs, previously unreleased songs, re-recordings of classics, and rounded out with four of her best loved story-songs.

The theme for the album is stories and journeys. Amy has always been a great storyteller and many of her most impacting songs have come from her own journey as she sings about the honesty of life, it's joys and struggles, and ultimately the hope she has found in faith and love.

The songs on Somewhere Down The Road read like journal entries that will resonate with anyone who grapples with wanting answers to life's toughest questions. Topics range from being honest with yourself and God (Better Than A Hallelujah), waiting for answers (Be Still), that those answers come over time (Overnight), and learning to listen to people before "fixing" them (Come Into My World), assurance that you are not forgotten (Arms Of Love) and much more.

There is something for any Amy Grant fan on Somewhere Down The Road.

Why o why o why is it taking so long for this cd to be available in this country? My copy arrived on my doorstep the day after its release - but I had to order it from the US. I agree with Ian's review but by the time people will be able to get it here most folk will have forgotten the 9/10. What Christian music scene???

I heard the song "Better than a Hallelujah" play on ccm airwaves;it was early March, before the cd was released March 30 of this year. I thought, what an awesome song for Amy to sing! I just loved the words and the music, it got to me: it is a true song.
Kudos to the songwriters! I loved Amy's remake of her '82 song "Arms of Love" features bgv's by Vince and Jenny Gill; great version! I especially loved the
simple artwork of Amy's that was used for the cover.
The duet with her daughter Sarah is just awesome!
I never knew she could sing so well; sounds like Amy
somewhat; great song and great vocals!! Amy does a raw, simple recording of "Come into my World"; who cannot relate to this song!;the song only needed
Amy's voice and acoustic. I kind'a was expecting this
cd to be more; considering the hiatus from Amy on a full length cd of new recordings. The cd starter song
"Better Than A Hallelujah" seems to be the cd's hi-
light song. GOD Bless!-Don
ps. loved Amy's duet on Anne Murray's 2008 "Duets"
