Reviewed by James Lidgett Aspirations passed down for God's good work? Stolen moments for fleeting reveries? Frontman Dustin Ruth had a dream, that was to touch people through his music, a dream he believes that God has for him also. This debut album from the Battleground, Washington, band is the realisation of this dream. It is a very strong realisation indeed. There is tremendous warmth in the writing of this album, both in the lyrical content and the sound itself. There is also tremendous energy. This band are clearly not a one trick pony, eloquently displaying different sides of their musical stylings from a more rocky Switchfoot style in "One Foot In, One Foot Out," "Standing Still" and "Cross The Line" to more country style guitar work and acoustic numbers akin to the stylings of Newton Faulkner and similar seen in "Well With Soul" and "Here To New York". Every song on this album is a winner. The group have a great talent and verve for what they do; a talent that is already being recognised as they jump aboard the "Appetite For Construction Tour" with Switchfoot and Reliant K. Another great find by Tooth & Nail Records and one we are sure to see a lot more of in the future! More from RuthSee all...
