Salvation = Hope by The Continentals

If you've read Cross Rhythms article about composer/choir director Cam Flora's numerous Continentals groups you'll know that they have been popular ambassadors for evangelistic and worship songs to the world Church. This is an upbeat album that features a variety of musical styles ranging from a fairly traditional gospel choral sound to rap and rock. As well as including a range of genres, the songs are also varied in style and feel, with a mix of upbeat tracks and inspirational balladry. The album starts with a strong pop piece "Bring Salvation", opening the album effectively with strong harmonies and a complimentary arrangement. Many of the songs have similar lyrical subjects, which occasionally gets a little dull, but in places this does link the songs together well. The album showcases a variety of soloists of varying talent that help give the songs individual qualities. Although the ability of the soloists varies, this does emphasise their community-choir feel. The inspiring soloist on "A Place Called Hope" is an outstanding vocalist. All in all, a reasonable representation of the veteran ministry.
