Not an easy one to judge this. Fold Zandura is the latest version of Mortal. Here they offer grunge pop initially seeming a perfect soundtrack for the computer age - crisp, sharp, but all a bit shallow. Jyro Xhari's vocals are at best clean and at worst bland ("Val Green"), while his shrill keyboard licks will turn off trad indie fans. Yet, persistent listening does begin to reap reward. "Ember", with its biting guitar growl hook, grows into a passionate plea for people not to be put off by others' failed faith crying "See For Yourself!" Opening track "Return" also proves to be a pop song bursting with hope. Fans of The Choir's 90's material may relate to this three piece's intense moody approach. But Fold Zandura (if they keep their latest name) will need to do more to grab the neutral's attention in future.
