This compilation is a promotional CD which proselytises the ethos of The Promise Keepers, the American based Christian ministry which is "dedicated to uniting men through vital relationships to become godly influences in their world." The compilers also pray that the songs will encourage us to 'Live A Life That Shows'. The album does a good job on both counts: the sleeve is well written with a concise, brief outline of its mission, the seven promises of the Promise Keepers are stated in full and the music is excellent. You'll see why it's so good, Sparrow managing to bring together this impressive list - Steve Green, Larnelle Harris, Bob Carlisle, Phillips Craig And Dean, Wayne Watson, Michael James, Commissioned, Michael Card, Steven Curtis Chapman, Steve Camp, Daryl Coley and the Gaither Vocal Band, singing 14 songs between them. There are just two new numbers, one by Steve Green and the other from Michael Card and, as you'd expect from this Who's Who of Christian artistry, the productions are superbly arranged and recorded. There are only one and a half weak tracks, but I wouldn't condemn the effort for this slight aberration and won't mention them. If you're into the Edwin Cole kind of Christian man's ministries then this is for you. If you just like the current vogue of Californian clarity and cleanliness, then this is also for you, whatever your gender. All the lyrics are there, too, for you karaokeists who are not myopaeic.
