Here we have strong modern hymns sung by worship leaders who know exactly what they are doing as they minister at the 141st Keswick Convention. Stuart Townend often leans towards a Celtic sound and here he brings us three brand new songs featuring his amazing whistle player Bob McKay who lifts the songs out of four-square into inspired. Stuart's "May The Peoples Praise You" does exactly what a new hymn should: it gives sound teaching in a catchy musical framework within everybody's grasp. Anthemic modern hymns are rather the stock in trade of Keswick, of course, and they do it so well. Colin Webster is brilliant at breathing new life into old hymnody. He does it here with his new offering "Come Thou Fount (Jesus Fount)" and a fresh take on "Amazing Grace" to the tune of "Auld Lang Syne". Other favourites are the powerful "Good Good Father" and the gorgeous "Agnus Dei" by Michael W Smith, here led by Steve James. A good Keswick and a good album.
