For his debut album, North Carolina-based singer/songwriter could have done a lot worse than to partner with award-winning producer Jason Ingram, of One Sonic Society. The results are a solid statement of intent from a name that promises to be a significant one on the CCM scene in years to come. Opener "City Of Light" shows off the pair's songwriting prowess and sets a trend that is continued for the rest of the album. Musically, there are some real moments of invention here, from the moody atmospherics of "To Follow You", to the rumbling country-inspired "Our God's Alive". Ingram resists the common temptation of polishing songs to the point of removing all emotional grit from the impressive performances, not least the vocals. All this while maintaining a mix that leaves the ears completely satisfied. An impressive debut.

Sonically, his thoughtful, complex arranagments stitch together the warmth of American roots with soaring moody tones of British rock.
