This is one of the most original and inspired recordings I have heard in ages – Arabic influences meet Indian percussion with really strong songs. The opener “The Day Of Your Return” is a song of longing which although ethereal is driven by tubla and acoustic guitar. Susie Beattie’s vocal swoops between lead and eastern-tinged backing in an arrangement that is compulsive. “Impossibly Beautiful” reminded me of Carole King – Daniel Goodman’s backing vocals provide the edgier counterpoint and as the track fades I’m left reaching for the ‘skip back’ key. “Every Part Of Me” opens with a mute’d trumpet and carries an ambient feel. Not the Ibiza ‘Café del Mar’ tripe that weighs down the shelves in Woolworths but a heavenly soundscape. Daniel Goodman takes the lead on the final tune “Always” and I’m wondering when the LP is out. Go to their (excellent) website and get the CD for free. If there is any justice this pair should be getting huge exposure as their writing has a beautiful poignancy. “Here in my brokenness everything changes but you” – worship doesn’t get more worshipful than this and it's available free of charge via the website.
