Lullabies For My Little One by Wonder Kids

The picture of a cherubic baby being tucked in by bluebirds on the cover of this addition to Kingsway's Wonder Kids range gives a strong hint that inside is a collection of saccharine songs that result in not much more than toddler muzak to adult ears. Of course it's not about us grownups and, despite the tacky instrumentation and the adenoidally-challenged kiddie vocals contained within this generous 50 song triple disc set, the material here is soothing enough and will hopefully lull your little ones off to sleep. Amidst the usual songs about black sheep, little lambs and twinkling stars, a handful of songs such as "Safe In The Shepherd's Arms", "Cradle Hymn" and "The Lord Never Sleeps" have God as their focus and therefore attempt to provide some spiritual input for the target audience of children from birth to age three. Nonetheless, the somewhat mechanical and low quality nature of this release makes for an uninspiring listen for even the littlest of ears.
