Reviewed by David Faulkner This is a well-produced CD. The mixes are good, keeping vocalists and bands prominent, the congregation providing participation and atmosphere rather than dominance. As you'd expect, the worship teams are good quality. And yet, and yet, I have problems. It's safe and predictable. The music fits popular genres, with little attempt to be daring: MOR, youth worship, some Celtic and gospel inflections. Even the "bonus track" is Moya Brennan singing - surprise, surprise - "Be Thou My Vision". Then I'm puzzled why a Spring Harvest theme, 'One People', about the Church, should lead to songs that are laced with evangelical individualism. But for all that, let me reserve praise for Geraldine Latty's reggae-tinged "Dance Of Our God". She has taken inspiration from the ancient doctrine of perichoresis. If the evangelical church were to tap more regularly into such rich resources as history gives us, our worship might be deeper. Buy this CD if you want the "hits", but not if you want to be stretched. More from Spring HarvestSee all...
