Reviewed by Ian Webber This two disc set, whilst including a CD of nine tracks recorded live on a recent tour, is really all about the accompanying DVD. With over an hour of footage covering live concert material, behind the scenes clips and interviews, this is a real eye opener to life on tour. The live performances are exciting and include highlights such as a reworked "Thief" and some blistering pedal steel on "Otherside", played by tour mate Robert Randolph. In addition to the music there are some touching behind the scenes glimpses of the group enjoying family life and preparing for a concert in their home town of Atlanta. The complementary audio disc contains a similar track listing to the DVD, mostly taken from the 'Revelation' album. Third Day are a band that sound just as good live as they do in the studio, with Mac Powell's gutsy vocals instantly recognisable. These live recordings have a much more prominent bass mix than studio versions and showcase the rhythmical side to the band to good effect. A real treat is a cover of the song U2 cut with BB King, "When Love Came To Town". Third Day's version includes guest appearances by Jars Of Clay's Dan Haseltine and Switchfoot's Jon Foreman. 'Live Revelation' with its strap line 'Onstage, Offstage, Backstage', delivers all that you would expect - a colourful, professional and intimate picture of one of America's most popular Christian rock acts.
