Reviewed by Paul Abbott This punk band have surely been on a journey in their time together recording, originally signed to the Tooth & Nail label way back in 1994 when they released the album 'Pokinatcha' as three fresh faced 17 year olds. They have now come full circle and signed for the same label after a nine year hiatus. To commemorate this they have re-released their 1998 album 'Let It Happen', this two-disc offering a mixture of music and video and encapsulates all that MxPx are about. In an age where if you get 15 tracks on an album you're doing well, this offering dishes up 32 tracks (three new one on the beginning of the album) and 14 music videos on a separate DVD. The band have teamed up again with veteran producer Aaron Sprinkle and the introduction of the three new tracks "Role Memodeling", "Prozac" and "Your Turn" offer a shift in their direction; yes, the usual frantic-paced beat is still there and lead singer Mike Hererra is still singing about love, girls and understanding and acceptance, but there is a new freshness to their sound. This album is a turning point in the 14 year career of the three boys and it proves they still have a lot to offer the listener. This is a must buy album for any die hard MxPx fan or any lover of the pop/punk/rock sound, and may I say also for anybody else who probably haven't yet discovered the MxPx sound if only for the awesome value it offers.
