Cheryl Dunn was a surprise visitor to the UK in April when she played at the Gospel Music Convention in Fraserburgh. This is country music from Canada and this is Cheryl's second release. Though she doesn't write herself, she's an excellent interpreter of songs. Sometimes it crosses the boundary into cheesy territory on songs like "Let Go", "Jesus Is Your Ticket To Heaven" and "The Last Train" with their cliched lyrics and images. Her version of Andy Park's "The River Of God" is extremely unoriginal. But then, there's plenty here that is very well done! Quieter songs like Rob Mathes' "Pleasures Of The King" and the acoustic hymns medley and "You Can Always Reach me" all work well. The electric country song "There's A Storm Rollin' In" whips along nicely with some great harmonies and her re-interpretation of Lennon & McCartney's "In My Life" is superb! All in all a slightly mixed bag.

I heard recently heard Cheryl's latest CD and I was vey impressed by her talent. An exxcent artist. I think she delevers in a very unique and interesting way, the gospel combined with praise & worship songs. I will continue to monitor her progress and I believe that with God's insperation she can only ger better. May God continue to use her talent in a possitive way.
