Three Crosses return with their second album and once more enlist the help of the legendary Barry Beckett for some of the production duties. There are a number of delightful moments to be savoured. At the commercial end, "The Stone Was Rolled Away" is a brilliant catchy Jars Of Clay soundalike, which isn't surprising since the Jars play on it. But the band have not deserted their blues rock roots, "Welcome To The Jesus Movement" will have you hooked and humming the song for life. In vocalist Steve Pasch, they have a singer who can growl a rock tune like a good'un. And there's a variety of rock tunes to prove it - "Michelangelo", "Blind Faith", "Getting Ready" and "Strangers In The House Of The Lord" all do the business in convincing fashion, all scorching guitar and anthemic tunes! But it's when you reach the final song "We've Got To Come Together" that the band really rocks out. This track sounds so like early '70s Stones that I half expected old rubber lips himself to tum up pouting and shouting "Awright!". Instead Ashley Cleveland lends her tonsils to this swampy blues rock jam! Three Crosses, good time spiritual rock'n'roll, worthy of your attention.
