Reviewed by Tony Cummings

The Stand are a Chicagoan 4-piece whose previous album got a lukewarm review in CR but sounded pretty good to these old ears. An indie/alternative team, The Stand's sound takes in bits of everything from the Ramones to a dozen Brit indie teams while Tony Valenziano has a nice line in wheezing vocals while Paz Vega's lead guitar is cranked up enough to satisfy moshpit sensibilities. Standouts on 'In Three Days' were the stuttering "Billy" and a driving "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Love, Peace And Understanding" the Nick Lowe oldie, once revived by Phil And John. If you're into the Altar Boys brand of sanctified post-punk abrasion, check these dudes out.
