Geron Davis - Hope Has Come

A live, fully orchestrated Christmas praise extravaganza created by Geron Davis and incorporating Kindred Souls, a full gospel choir and a children's choir. It's exactly what you would expect of an Integrity praise album - in terms of polished sound, extravagant orchestrations, smooth production etc - and if you regularly listen to worship CDs in the car, this is a definite 'must-have' for the Christmas season. This is a big production - both in terms of the original concert and in terms of available support resources that include sheet music, backing trax, orchestrations, etc. If you happen to be the musical director of a large church with a full orchestra and choir, you could consider performing this live as an evangelistic event! Most of the songs are written by Davis and the arrangements and orchestrations are industry standard in both their professionalism and predictability. At times it feels like you're listening in on an awards ceremony. The adult performances are spot on and the children's choir is enchanting. All of this is written in the context of this being an American production - so us Brits can take it as read that there'll be a few too many Americanisms for our taste - but I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it.
